I have confidence in confidence
This latest update has been a long time coming; I keep rewriting what I have, each time coming up with nothing of quality, and finally postponing the update until the next day. Enough with the procrastinating already, right?

It’s really hard to find a Sound of Music screenshot other than the famous one of Julie Andrews twirling around on the mountain.
Tonight, Sadia, Aisha, and I went to see The Sound of Music at Screen on the Green. I was moderately surprised at how many people turned out for what I considered a chick-flick, but really, I should have known better, as SotG is quite the popular event. We had a great time, despite the unfortunate proximity of the Evil Smokers Who Would Not Collapse Their High-backed Folding Chairs Despite Being Asked Twice By Event Organizers.
(Before you jump all over me, I know it’s an outdoor event and technically people are allowed to smoke as much as they want, but that doesn’t mean I have to enjoy inhaling their second-hand smoke. And we won’t even get started on the high-backed chairs that impeded our view of the screen, forcing us to reposition ourselves half a dozen times with only marginal success.)

The other side of Piedmont Park. What? I couldn’t find a picture of the SotG side!
It was great to finally see the movie on a large screen and with a huge audience. I always love watching old movies with true enthusiasts because they get so into it. Our neighbors sang along with the film, hissed whenever Baroness Schraeder appeared on the screen, and cheered at all the appropriate moments. The big drawback, of course is the amazing Let’s Find Parking! game since there is no parking to speak of near Piedmont Park, and no convenient MARTA access either.
Next week is the original Psycho — no shoddy remakes for Screen on the Green! We’re thinking about catching it;drop me an e-mail if you want to join us.
In other news, two more jumpers on the Atlanta roads Tuesday. The first lasted 90 minutes, but it happened around midnight, when the interstate shutdown had fewer consequences. The second lasted 30 minutes just as the afternoon rush hour was getting started. DOT officials are finally talking about setting up deterrants, and to that I can only say, it’s about time. I find it odd they use tractor trailers to break the jumpers’ fall, though; can’t they just use whatever Hollywood stuntmen use?
